The Different Types of Hair Removal

Hair Removal with Hot Wax

What do I need to do to get started?

Waxing can be done both at home and in a beauty salon.

There is a huge array of products available on the market to ensure a professional approach.

How much money do I need to spend?

The price can vary. In a salon, it often depends on the treatment area. You can expect to pay around 40 CHF for a standard bikini wax and from 90 CHF for leg waxing.

Wax strips to use at home cost approximately 6chf and a decent quality pot of wax can cost around 18chf.
Ultimately, waxing over years will cost more than either shaving or laser hair removal. It is estimated people who use wax for hair removal can spend up to 26,000 CHF in a lifetime!

Pros

  • The hot wax easily grabs onto all hair, even very fine ones so the immediate results can be quite fantastic!

  • The surface after treatment is incredibly smooth - if done correctly and carefully.

Cons

  • Hot wax needs to be applied very carefully! Some products can be ‘heated in the microwave. If not carefully checked, you can imagine the damage and pain you could unwittingly inflict on yourself! An emergency room visit for smooth legs is not what anybody needs.

  • You need to ensure that you approach the wax against the direction of natural growth, or you can create a lot of painful ingrown hairs as well as having to repeat the process multiple times.

  • It can be considerably more painful than other methods.

How Long Does It Last?

If done well, expect around 2-4 weeks hair free.
